Praying the Penitential Psalms:

pic “Where sin increased, grace abounded all the more” Romans 5:20.
But to do its work, grace must uncover sin so as to convert our hearts and restore us in holiness. Like a physician who probes the wound before treating it, God, by His Word and by His Spirit, casts a living light on sin.
Praying the 7 penitential Psalms is a powerful yet pious way of inviting God’s mercy and grace back into our lives. Reciting these Psalms helps us in reflecting our actions and calling to mind the times we failed to be pleasing to God. It leads us to acknowledge our sins with a sorrowful heart and ask forgiveness from our loving Father.
This Lent, let us take a few minutes to read through them as often as we can and pray as below:

Psalm 6:

“Remember not, O Lord, our offences, nor those of our parents, and take not vengeance on our sins”

1 O LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger,
or discipline me in your wrath.

2 Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am languishing;
O LORD, heal me, for my bones are shaking with terror.
